TRAFEH LODGE, LLC

“Turn the key and the door swings open to another place in time.”

TWO NEW MEMBERS NEEDED - TRAFEH Lodge is a wooded riverfront fishing and hunting retreat boasting 400 feet of frontage on the Main Stream of Michigan’s famed Au Sable river. It is owned by members of a Limited Liability Corporation founded for the purpose of enjoying and preserving the natural beauty of the woods, water, and wildlife on the 24-acre property. It is a place where members, their families and invited friends gather to practice the traditions of good sportsmanship in the pursuit of trout angling and wing shooting as well as other family-oriented recreation opportunities the river provides.

THE LODGE The main lodge is a classic, 3,000 sq ft full-log structure with dining room, kitchen, sitting rooms, a fieldstone fireplace and 7 private bedrooms that sleeps 20 comfortably. A two-story boathouse at the riverfront offers 6 additional bunk beds attached to a screened porch overlooking the river. There are quiet spaces among the many rooms to enjoy reading, a card game or admiring the peaceful view of the river just beyond the windows. Decorative floor lamps and recessed lighting reflect the warmth of the interior woodwork. The view from the deck, porches and rooms will stir the soul of experienced fly anglers and novices alike to the thrill of hooking into an Au Sable River trophy Brown Trout.

THE WOODS The grounds include a manicured lawn that slopes gently to an expansive deck with Adirondack chairs at the riverfront. The remaining 20+ acres have been left in oak and mixed conifers, with some white pine specimens reaching more than 100 feet tall. On paths cut through the woods one hears the drumming of Ruffed Grouse and the call of the Pileated woodpecker. In Spring the understory comes alive with the song of warblers and other migratory birds feeding along the streamside cedars and tag alders. Although not always apparent, rabbit, fox, deer, ’possum, raccoon, badger, mink, beaver, and bear inhabit the woods.

THE RIVER This section of the famed Au Sable is known for its season-long succession of abundant fly hatches. It has earned the distinction of being named The Holy Water, for its near perfect, steady flow, consistent depth, and miles of natural cover providing a healthy cold-water, wild-trout fishery. The river is revered for its ever-changing, sometimes contradictory moods, often challenging the best anglers in pursuit of big browns while on other days granting the beginner hours of entertainment with plentiful takes by the sometimes-reckless brook trout.
